My 9 Somethings for September

Hey friends!

I hope life is treating you well! My month was a rather calm one but not without its quirky happenings. 🙂 Welcome to my 9 Somethings for September!

Something Related to Writing

I’m done with Ridgeline!

*yells from the rooftop* *dances in the rain* *throws glitter that sticks to my wet hair*

This story is one of the most natural books I’ve written yet. I outlined but didn’t force myself to stress too much over scene structure and theme, like I’ve done before. There’s a bunch of issues (it’s the first draft, after all), but I’m still thrilled with it. 🙂 The current word count is 68,757.

I also had a major breakthrough regarding Rook’s new book, Ceasefire. The story had been missing a certain something I couldn’t name, but when a new idea hit me, the whole thing came to life. 🙂 Was I brainstorming when I should have been writing Ridgeline? Maaaaaybe.

I’m planning on writing Ceasefire during Nanowrimo. 🙂

I had two articles published on SE this month!

Don’t Let Pressure Kill the Joy in Your Writing and How to Use Details in Action Sequences. *beams with pride* Read more

My 10 Somethings for August

Meeting retired car thieves, exasperating people with glitter, and long road trips.

Just another month in the life of Gabby.

Welcome to My Somethings for August!

Something Sad

My sister and her roomie, Tori, moved away this month. 😦

First off, it’s just plain sad they won’t be around. Second, watching them leave for Cedarville gave me homesickness for the college I dropped out of. Don’t you hate it when you make the right choice but are still pained by it?

All depressing feelings aside, they now have the ability to commute to Cedarville, and I’m allowed to visit them on the weekends. I think I’ll survive. 😉 Read more

My 11 Somethings for February

Hey friends!

Sorry ‘bout not showing up last week. I got a job, and, well…more on that later.
Anyhow, here’s how last month panned out.

Something Fun (and Slightly Painful)

Do you like sleeping on concrete? Cause I do.

Sort of. For a good reason.

Apparently, I’m a missable person because last month my sister invited me to spend the night at Cedarville with her and her roomie (who’s also my crazy friend).

It didn’t occur to me that college students don’t have room to store extra bedding for guests, so I ended up sleeping on about an inch of blankets and however many feet of concrete sits under the dorms. Read more

My 15 Somethings for Januaryish (Part 2)

Hey friends!

Here is the second part of my Somethings, as promised.

Something Sad

I’m all alone.

My sister headed back to college last month. Cedarville isn’t too far away, but it still feels weird. We’ve been together my entire life, and now she’s gone. *sniffs* Gone!

Ok, maybe I’m being dramatic, but still. Darn growing up.

Something Deep

I had an article published by KP that hit pretty close to home. Many writers struggle with comparison and placing their worth in how well they write (including yours truly). In the article I wrote, I addressed these harmful patterns. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite articles that I’ve written.

My 15 Somethings for Januaryish (Part 1)

Much has transpired since my last Somethings. So much, in fact, that I had to split this Something into two parts.

Actually, I was simply too lazy to edit the entire post before sending it to my editor/error checker. But it is a really long piece, so it worked out.

Buckle up, ladies and gentlemen. The last two months were a bumpy ride. Read more
